This thing is driveing me nuts. I've scanned useing updated ad-aware and spybot, but they can't get rid of it. I've tried to just hide it but the toolbar list is faded out. I looked in the add/remove program list but its not there. Anyone have any ideas?

I can't get to the site, I had trouble getting to lavasoft and the spybot site to. But no problems to any other site, maybe this is a bigger problem than just spyware. I'm going to do some anti-virus scans.

I can get to the site...
Here are their (PestPatrol) instructions on manually removing this: Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake. Unregister DLLs: Unregister these DLLs with Regsvr32, then reboot: systemroot+\system32\toolbar_.dll systemroot+\system\toolbar_.dll Clean Registry: Remove these registry items (if present) with RegEdit: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\clsid\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\clsid\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\internet explorer\toolbar\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\browser helper objects\{1c78ab3f-a857-482e-80c0-3a1e5238a565} Remove Files: Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer: systemroot+\system32\toolbar_.dll systemroot+\system\toolbar_.dll HTH, -LW |

Ok, I fixed the windows update error, turns out you have to have automatic updates set to manual. But I still can't get to that site.

Looks like ISearch mapped some domains to 127.0.0.1, what are the contents of your hosts file? (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

You don't need anything other than:
127.0.0.1 localhost |

Now use Spybot's Immunize function to lock the hosts file read-only.
