Depends on how you get these unwanted files. If it is email (when opening, it dwds file), then get a good AV to check the email before you open it - like NOD32.

If just an incoming spontaneous packet, then a firewall, set with those type of rules, should be doing its job. I would say that Kerio's Personal Firewall should do it. However, be sure to also run Adaware and Spybot S&D - that should get rid of the existing unwanted stuff.

Hope that helps,
kram

I think hes talking about blocking out the sites in the browser so you cant get to them, like a nanny program. Just google parental control programs.
EDIT: found this thread http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...ontrol+program

I would think if you have a custom set firewall, it should do it.

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
There's been much talk in the last couple years of local libraries installing "filters" on their computers to prevent porn viewing. Not sure how they work or who makes them, but a Google search may give you some info.

If your using Internet Explorer then you can go into the Tools-Internet Options-Content-Content Advisor-Enable tab and you will be able to set what can and cannot be viewed on your computer.

I dont know how well it works, but it is free.

I have a way that works for me, you go to....

Tools > Internet Options > Content >

then where it says content advisor, click settings, and do whatever it tells you to do in order to make a password.

then, after you make the password you can click on the Language, Nudity, Sex, and Violence filter key things.

then, you can adjust the amount you would like to be filtered out of each category, WITHOUT having to enter a large list of porn sites

this has always worked for me and i hope it works for you too

Bryan

Nope. This is the same method that Bryan has suggested. It filters sites based on their category, and all you have to do is toggle a little slider bar.

I think IE-SPYAD has a list of restricted (Porn) sites that it can add to Internet Explorer's Security Options.

From the IE-SPYAD page: "Please note that there used to be a long list of misc., "run-of-the-mill" porn sites and adult domains in IE-SPYAD. That section has now been moved to a separate file, which you can find in the \ADULT sub-directory of the main IE-SPYAD installation directory. For instructions on how to install those misc. adult domains, if you so choose, see the file ADULT-NOTE.TXT in the \ADULT sub-directory."
