Office XP

Where is the best place to buy the student version? How do they qualify you as a student? Also, where is the best place to buy?

I got my last one at CompUSA. Sometimes they ask for a student I.D. My granddaughter bought one and since she's 10-years old they just took her word for being a student.

I see you're in Japan, so I'm guessing you are looking for a website, right? I'm not too familiar with what selection of stores you have there. Anyway, Academic Superstore has it for $189. I believe it's a full version. Although, I'm not sure if they ship international. My guess is they don't. But you can check it out.

Hth,

Not in Japan anymore and they will not honor k-12. Looks like I need to look elsewhere.

You should be able to go over to CompUSA, Best Buy, or Sam's Club and just buy it. My customers have been doing this and none of them have been carded yet. Office Student and Teacher Edition is $149 list, Sam's has it for $126. This is the basic Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook - and can be activated on 3 computers. M$ is looking the other way, probably to be competitive with Corel, who is blowing out the Wordperfect Suite dirt cheap, and possibly feeling pressure from Open Office.

If I'm correct, Japan is still lagging behind concerning technology. I doubt they will offer any mercy, showing price, for Software.

However, if you are in the US, you can also look at good old dandy Newegg - they have academic version softwares.

Don't forget that if you don't ACTUALLY need Microsoft Office there are a lot of free alternatives such as Open Office.
