Programs trys to connect to the internet?

I recently installed InterVideo WinDVD onto my PC (running Windows 98 SE).

When I run the program to play a DVD the dial up networking box comes up and trys to connect me to the internet.

Why is it doing this, and can I fix it somehow? Its really annoying as I can't see why I'd need to be connected to the Internet to use DVD playback.

it might be trying to update itself, see if you can find an update feature on it.

Does't appear to have any update facility and I checked to see if it wanted me to register online too.

Check your system with Adaware and Spybot. It may be something else trying to connect.
