Trouble in closing or printing MS Word documents

Hello,

some MS Word documents that i keep in My Documents present some difficulties when i try to print them or close them.

The bar on the top of the screen and all the frame around starts blinking and the action (closure or printing) is not performed.

Also the name of the file which is shown on the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen (when you open the file), starts blinking as well.

What do you think the problem might be?

Thank you.

Hi Starcom,

What ver of Word and Windows are you using??

The symptoms sound a bit like when Excel is is the background and prompts you for an autosave, but Word doesn't have an autosave that works the same way.

BTW I've never understood why the tools and options for Word & Excel aren' more similar.............

Chris.

How can i check whether this is the case? If not, what else could it be?

Thank you.

If you're also using Norton Anti-Virus, this MS KB article might help.

Good luck.

Hello,

I looked into what the Web page above recommends,

Method 1: Run Live Update
Obtain the latest version of the Office Plug-In that is available through the Live Update option site in your Norton Anti-Virus software.

Note An update to the Norton Office plug-in may not be available in all languages.

Method 2: Disable Office Plug-In

I first gave a try to the first method, my Norton Systemworks went through the updating process (Live Update), however the problem was still there.
So i tried the second method and worked.

Could you please tell me whether i performed the first method correctly?
I just clicked the Live Update tag when being online. Is there any way to know whether the latest version of the Office Plug-In has been obtained?

Thank you.

Hi,
Quite often i experience the following strange situation with the MS Word;
when i Open a Word text file just to view it without performing any changes to it and then press the Close button i get the message :

Quote:
Microsoft Word

Do you want to save the changes to '....filename....' ?

Yes No Cancel
What the problem could be? I change nothing in the file and still get this annoying message.

Thanks.
