Mcafee Security errors

Im having a major problem with a Mcafee security program that was preinstalled on a computer running windows XP. When ever the computer starts up errors pop up saying that sertain files are missing. And when I try to remove the program errors pop up saying Installer files are missing so the program can not be removed? Is there another way that these files could be removed besides the software installer/uninstaller in the windows control panel. I have a Mcafee security program but I dont think it is the same version. Thanks for any help.

Go to the link below and download/install the trial version of ADD/Remove Plus. It can remove broken programs like you are having problems with. Then do yourself a favor and never install another program with the name McAfee, they are a worse problem than what they are supposed to protect your computer from.

Sorry glc wont happen again.

And thanx windgate ill give it a try. And ill never use anything named Mcafee again. But whats a good security program that I can get for cheap or free? Because Norton doesnt catch a lot of viruses or worms. Such as the bagle virus for example.

Anti Vir is better than AVG Free and checks for updates more often. The AVG 7 Pro for $33.30 is great. For a Firewall I suggest SygatePE which is also free.

anti-vir is at http://www.free-av.com/

Smaller system footprint and the freeupdate servers for AVG seem to be getting overloaded these days.

ok ill try one of those later but for right now i still cant get this program off this computer. I tried that add/remove program plus and have had no success with it. I even tried deleting the files strait from the hard drive and it tells me that it cant be deleted because access is denied. And no matter what i do i cant seem to get around it. Im completely stumped on this one.
