Suggest that you research some of the retail POS scanner options. They will have inventory software bundled with the scanner software.
You might want to look into the software used by others in the same type of business. Inventory control is such an important part of business that anybody that writes software will have IC as part of a package. But IC also tends to be rather industry specific, so there will be a lot of it that would be worthless to you, and the generalized versions will be so bloated to fit everybody that you won't be happy with it.

Thanks for the reply,i will need it for strictly inventory in and out ,just to keep track of what products are in stock, and where it has gone, all entries will be manual ,no label readers (if that is what you call it).for every product coming in and out.

Complete small business accounting package with integrated inventory control, 200 bucks US.

If something generic will do the job, this will do it.

I think you will find P'tree to be one of the bloat products. But criticising software products that people choose is like criticising Texans about their choices of brew, women, and guns. They have strong opinions.
It sounds like you don't really need an inventory product, more like a database. And in a similar situation I used Q&A, a flat file database. It is obsolete, but still available. And a successor product (Lantica) is on the market. Access (MS) will do the same job but is more complex as it is relational. I've also done the equivalent with basic, but was limited due to a design choice of integer number of records.

Sure, a generic database program can do it, but it would have to be customized. Yes, Peachtree is bloat for just this purpose, but when you look at its ability to be an all-in-one turnkey accounting package for your business, it looks a lot better in this light, and these days I prefer it to Quickbooks due to the monkey business Intuit is becoming famous for. Heck, you could probably come up with something using the simple flat file database (or maybe even just the spreadsheet?) in M$ Works, but again it would have to be set up and customized.

try posting a new thread, that way people who might have the answer, but not for this thread, or who haven't read this thread, or who've read it and forgotten about it or decided they couldn't be of help here, will see it.
