Sony Camera DSC-P92

my new camera has an image transfer program that is the pits . Any one know what I can do to use something else?

Camera software is usually fairly proprietary. I would recommend looking around on the Sony website and see if there are any program updates available. If not, grin and bear it. You only use the image transfer program to do the transfers, which is a pretty straightforward action. You can always do your editing in a superior program.

If your pictures are stored on a removeable memory card then you could get a card reader for your computer, which would treat the memory card just as it would any other drive.

The Sony that I have just hooks up via USB. XP loads it as a removeable drive and I just transfer pictures off of it. Sony uses a memory stick in their cameras.

You can usually use Windows Move Maker or Virtualdub to cap.
