Winamp 5

Hi all,

Just checking to see what everyone thinks about this version of Winamp. I've been a 2.x user for years and tried the version 5.03 yesterday. So far I like it. What are everyone else's thoughts? TIA.

I had some stability issues using the video player in Winamp 5. Nullsoft may have fixed the issue by now since I downloaded 5 when it was brand new, but I nixed it. I just use WMP 9 for movies and Winamp 3 for mp3s.

I tried both 5.01 and 5.03, and neither work on my main rig. They both coughed up whenever I tried to run them.

I've been using 5.03 and I've had no problems with it. I used 2.x as well until it came out, I heard too many bad things about 3.x.

I've been using 5.03 Pro for a few weeks now. No troubles at all. Plays audio and video perfectly. My only grouch is that it rips audio only very slowly, even when set to rip at the highest possible speed, and even on this rig.

Use an alternative like CDex or Exact Audio Copy.

I've been using Winamp 5 for a while, it works fine, and I like the new media library.

I changed it to use the classic skin BTW, I like it more than the new one.

I literally could'nt tell the difference when I went from 2 to 5. I only use it for music in a very minimized form, so can't comment on video or other features.. But it works just as good as 2.

Good thing that I like about it. Is that 5.3 has a MP4 codec in it so you can now make and encode your own MP4's. I've tried it and it doesn't seem to bad really. Also if you have older skins for older versions of winamp they will be backwards compatible with the new version as well.

i use winamp 5 and i really enjoy it. ive been using winamp since v. 2, and i think 5 is probably the best version imo. it also has an incedible amount of skins, but i prefer the simple ones that take up less of my precious memory.

havent used teh pro version yet...(dont feel like payin for it)

i also like the media library features, where u can sort all your songs by most played, length of song, etc, (u can even make your own) - i dont really use teh features much, but its stil pretty nifty
