EDIT: sorry in my rush i forgot to post the specs, Windows 98 SE with a very old Cyrix procesor (can't remebr what model) and 64mb ram i think i am going to end up formatting as its got a lot of other problems as well Last edited by Aaaron; 05-24-2004 at 04:56 AM. |

How long has it been installed ?
But since it's got alot of other problems I'd say reformatting is your only choice. If you have it installed for over 1 year => reformat. RJ

Not necessarily - if it has IE6, boot it up in safe mode, go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced - and look for "enable 3rd party browser extensions" - uncheck it. This is a known issue with Win2K/XP and it *may* also apply to 98. It's worth a try.
Also, while in safe mode, run msconfig and review your startup items. Good chance there's viruses and other garbage trying to run. |
