Windows 3.1 Install Help
Im trying to install Windows 3.1 on a Pentium 75 system. Ive FDisked the drive, and gone through the entire install procedure for Windows 3.1.
It finishes the install and tells me to restart, However when I restart, it tells me that there is an "invalid system disk." I have no disk in the floppy drive. When I insert a Windows 98 Bootdisk, it tells me "The version of DOS that was used for the install of Windows 3.1 is incompatable with Windows 3.1, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to Restart" How do I make it boot into Windows? |

And did you do an OS install first. You've got to have an operating system to handle the I/O and file support.

It did the entire Windows 3.1 install. When it got to the end of the install it instructed me to restart, and that is when I got the error message.

I think edfair means you need to install DOS first. Windows 3.1 is not an operating system it is mearly an graphical user interface.

Purchase it and install it. The last version from MS is 6.22 although for Win3.1 even DOS 5 or PCDos will work.
