mIRC??

I just downloaded mIRC and was needing help. I'm not sure whether IRC is something that is allowed to be talked about...so admins can delete this post if wanted...

Can someone point me to a tutorial that teaches how to download from an server...I found some tutorials at mirc.net but none teach how to download.

Any help could be great...

First, mIRC is just an IRC client. Although the most popular by far, it's also got so many options, it's confusing.
To download files from an irc server, you first have to know what type of server. Is it Fserv, XDCC, TDCC...?
Normal (if there is such a thing) irc servers simply provide you with a list of files, and you use some basic commands, typed in, to do things.
dir or ls to get a list of files.
get to get a file
cd to change folders
cd.. to go back (that's cd and two dots).
If you are on any organized server (undernet, dalnet, et al) just look in the channels list for help channels. There are usually hundreds, some specifically for getting files.
Ask one of the operators in your channel for help (the people that have an @ beside their name are ops).
Usually they can either help, or steer you in the right direction.
Beware, irc is a hotbed of illegal software, as well as being an unprotected method of getting all sorts of nasties in your computer.

As reboot alluded to, make sure you scan every file you download off of IRC. You should really do this for every file you download. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but if you do scan the stuff before you put it on, that's time and trouble you save down the road if it happens to be infected.
