Erasing CD-RW
i have a cd-rw that i want to erase.... but i don't have a program to do it... i was wondering if there are any good free ones that i could download... any suggetions will be apreciated

You have a CD burner without a burning program
 Well, how do you burn CDs then ? You just use the same program to erase a CD-RW. If you really have no program, use Windows XP's built-in burning engine. If you have no XP, download Nero. Nero itself is not free, but you can download a trial, and erase the CD-RW. RJ

Try this if you're running XP. Put the disk in the drive. Go to My Computer, right click the drive, see if you see a line to "Erase this CD RW".

i have a dell running a p3 1 ghz on it... i use adaptec easy cd creator 4 to burn cd's... i have erased them b4 but... recently i installed windows xp and i did a clean install... so i may not have installed the erasing software... but i was wondering i there was one available online so i wouldn't have to find the disc and everything

Ah. Well, EZ CD Creator 4 does not run under Windows XP. You can erase the CD-RW the way PanamaRed told you.

ez-cd- creator does run under xp
I have it running on two systems now. you do need a version later than ver 5.0 |

If you have XP the "Erase this CDRW" option should be there when you right click the CD burner in My Computer. I don't see any reason why the XP burning engine would not have been installed. I have never had any third party software and i have never had a problem. If you really can't get the XP burning engine to work then DeepBurner is a great, free program. I think you can use it to erase a CDRW but I have never tried.

if you do a full format of the cdrw disk, you can then use it like a big floppy disk, read, write, delete to it all you want at any time.
also drag and drop files to it too, and cut & paste works great that way too. |
