KLite
For years i've been running Kazaa, and recently tried the alternative KLite. I have an ADSL connection currently at 1.5mbps . In all other programs ie:IE, Kazaa etc. etc. my bandwidth is as it should be, but in KLite it only runs at 1kbps or 2kbps. This isn't network congestion, as i can start and stop other downloads and it will not affect what seems to be a concrete 1-2kbps connection
Any Ideas? |

I use klite, it might have somethin to do with your options settings. What is your participation level?

Apparently, because it uses essentially the same code as the normal Kazaa, it uses their servers. The only difference being that it has no ads or spyware etc. The normal Kazaa is so blatant about its spyware that it stopped working when i used AdAware to remove spyware. It then wanted me to reinstall to use it so it could reinstate it. This is why i went looking for an alternative.

With Kazaa you will not always get max speed... If the person your downloading from is on a 56K then thats how fast you will be downloading.

There are no servers on Kazaa like there were on Napster. It's all peer to peer meaning that when you download something you are downloading it directly off someone's computer and you are limited to their upload speed.

The other user can throttle his upload/your download speed, so he can slow you to a crawl to conserve bandwith for his downloads.
