laptop hardware questions

i recently bought myself a laptop. i was wondering what i have to do in order to use the internet while im away from home.

well, please tell us what operating system you run, if you have a modem or not, and what sort of internet connection you're paying for.

Where are you located? You can alsways dial in with a modem, but in the US (possibly in Canada and Europe too), there are services run by cell-phone providers that let you pay a (rather high) monthly fee to get wireless broadband through a card that you puty into your laptop. There are also many businesses that run free or for-charge WiFi hotspots, so that when you're in, say, a Starbucks you can access the internet that way.
