Power problem

My hp pavillion ze4115 is acting strange. I am running it from the ac adapter and at times it thinks it is using the battery. The battery runs down in 10 minutes. any help would be appreciated.

It could be a variety of reasons, it definitely does not sound like a software/OS issue at all. It doesnt sound like your AC adapter is working very well or that your battery has any life left in it.. are you sure that it's charging your battery? The OS notification of AC/Battery use is purely code based, it has nothing to do with how long your battery will run. So if your battery is supposed to have an hour's worth of charge in it, it should not power down simply because the OS thinks there is only 10 minutes of charge left. By the same token, just because the OS thinks that you arent connected to AC does not mean that it will turn off when it assumes the battery should've died.

The first thing I would see is if hopefully your battery is the one recalled by HP here. If not I would check with HP support to see if they will change the adapter and/or battery for you.
