Problem with old Hitachi laptop
I have an ancient Hitachi laptop that I used when I was going to college. It got a fairly nasty virus infection, to the point that I got the BSOD just trying to boot up. I formatted the HD, and reinstalled Windows, but every time I boot up, it hangs for about 5 minutes at the BIOS, then gives me an error saying the "NoteBios file or partition not found"
Any ideas on how to fix this? It's not like it's going to ever be that useful again (333mhz 32mb ram and can't hold a charge), but it would be nice to have it for more than a paperweight. |

It may have had a bios or boot file on the hard drive. Check at Hitachi web site to see if any info on the Notebios.

Usually older computers from major manufacturers do have a boot partition on the hard drive. By you formatting, you most likely erased it. You can try their website, but I did the same thing to an old Compaq and never could find any info on it, so the computer was scrapped for parts.

I checked the Hitachi site, and can't find anything. It seems like there are several other people that ran into this problem too, and nothing really worked. Looks like it's going to stay a paperweight.
Might try to find away to mount the LCD in my PC case, but that's another thread in another forum. =) Thanks for the help. |
