Hello can someone help me out? I bought my laptop from fry's which is a rx-7334 great quality brand. the only problem was that i had formatted the computer and after that, i couldnt format it anymore. when ever i put in the manufacture disc, and try to install, the disc say that i have an image file missing and that i have a virus. does anyone know how to fix it? i know that i might have downloaded something but i dont know. i have tried to install other windows O.S, but the problem is that they havent worked at all. they all say that i have a virus. also the 4 disc that come with it doesnt say what is wrong. does anyone know how to solve this please reply i've had to deal with this computer for nearly 3 months like this. oh and also for some reason when every i click on anything in my computer it opens search instead please help.thank you.

Wait -- are you trying to install the OS from in Windows, or are you trying to boot from the CD and install that way. If you're not booting from the CD, try that.

Okay hold it.
Your CD-ROM isn't working right? That may be your trouble and, given that you've only had the laptop a few months, the manufacturer replaces it under warranty. If the optical drive is failing your in ability to reinstall is explained. E-mail tech support. |

I think I've got it.
There's a file (boot partition) on the hard drive that the restore disks have to use and it isn't there anymore. This is very odd, if you used the restore disks the first time they wouldn't have damaged that partition but if your hard drive developed a bad sector just there that's what could have done it. I'm surprised tech support didn't mention that or perhaps you had one of those all to frequent communications mix-ups. Try it again and tell them that the restore disk can't find the correct file on the hard drive. Give them the exact error message you're getting, the one about the missing file, and tell them the restore disks worked once but haven't since. Post back their reply. |
