Palm T/X : How to get the most out of it!

Good day all;

I just bought my father a Palm T/X which WiFi / BlueTooth capable. He has a (Walmart) HP Pavilion Computer and uses a standard DSL modem to connect to the internet.

I want to give him the capability to use the WiFi and / or BlueTooth aspects of this Palm T/X. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

If he's got a DSL connection it is highly recommended that he use a router for security.. buying any 802.11g/b router will allow the Palm to get on the net quite easily.
To use bluetooth - you can buy a BT adapter for the desktop computer. There are a ton of cheap USB BT adapter. Once you've got a BT adapter, you can sync the palm data to the desktop over BT, or even share the internet connection from the desktop using bluetooth.

If I pick up a Wireless Router, will the Palm T/X find the router automatically, like a laptop?

Last question.. does the BT Adapter plug into a USB port or does it use a PCI slot?

Thanks!

The process is like using a WiFi on a laptop - you can see it in action http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/W...ase=obj(40507) or use the Palm TX support site for other info including using BT

BT adapters are usually USB as they are the most convenient since they are usually not used for a constantly-on connection. They are also extremely cheap.. check out Newegg for bluetooth adapters. The other option, of course, is PCMCIA. or compact flash. If for some reason, you cannot use USB, there are serial port or PCI bluetooth adapters. Check this list: http://www.palowireless.com/bluetooth/products.asp
PCI adapter: http://www.gw-instruments.de/bluetooth.html
Serial adapter: http://www.brainboxes.com/products/b....asp?id=BL-510

Finally, I always like to point this out .. if you're in the market for a wireless mouse or keyboard, check out Microsoft's BT keyboard or mouse, they come with a USB BT adapter.
