laptop keyboard
hey i have a dell xps gen 2 and i belive something is stuck under the "k" key. I was wondering if it was possible to pop that key up somehow and get it out. I'm not sure how to do this and i don't want to take a chance in trying to pry the key open. If anyone knows how to do this i'd really appreciate it if you could help me. Thanks!

Try using a tooth brush and or compressed air to get the stuff out.

its pretty easy to pop them off and put them back on
they are designed to pop off so you shouldnt have any problem doing so they have a two little tabs that slide over the part attached to the keyboard and then a part that clips on to it if you just pull it will pop off and then you will see how it goes back on by the way pull from the right side of the key |

You should check Dell's website to see if there is documentation on how to do this. It might be in the laptop manual or something sometimes.
You have to be careful popping off keys because if you're careless, you can bend the fragile plastic key retainers. Listen to yeoamuca and pop em off from the right. The left side should work true since the keys are usually attached symmetrically. Also, there may be a rubber piece, don't lose it. When you put the key back, make sure that the rubber part (if there is one) flat against the contact. If it's not flat, you'll feel it when you tap the reattached key.

actually pulling from the left is what you dont want to do
the part that slides under is on that side if you pull from that side you can break the tabs or the other mechanism the right side is the side that has the clips that pop off you pull up on the right side til the clips pop loose then slide it off to the left but like stuey said make sure you dont lose anything |

Oh, no I do trust you. I only meant that different keyboards have different mechanisms and I'm unfamiliar with Dell keyboards so I mentioned what I knew about my keyboard.
I wasn't sure that your advice was based on your experience with Dells or a different model you may have (the info wasn't in your post or sig so I made the assumption). |
