Question Computer problem. Need some help please

For some reason last night my laptop went crazy on me and now i cannot type on it. Everything loads up fine and the mouse works. I can surf the net and pull up any programs that i need but when i go to type nothing comes out on the screen. I am really computer retarded, anyone know what the problem is and how can i fix it?

I check the control panel to make sure it was working properly. I've rebooted and everything.

When you say the laptop "went crazy", what does that mean?

Do you have another keyboard you could attach to the laptop? It's certainly possible that the laptop keyboard itself broke.

Thanks for the reply

I mean crazy is a joking term. The keyboard just doesn't want to type anything and I didn't do anything to damage it like spill anything on it.

I wa thinking that it might have broke but do you have any other suggestions before I take it in?

At first, everything froze up for a minute(more like 30 seconds) and then came back to normal. Only my keyboard didnt work.

What make and model of laptop is it?
Do you have access to a USB keyboard that you could try on it?

Assuming you have Windows installed, you could try to enter the boot up menu from windows with... F7 or F8 (I'm not sure which one it was again). Or hold DEL to enter BIOS. If you can accomplish this the keyboard shouldn't be broke and it will probably be something driver related.

If you do not have a USB keyboard to try such as doctorgonzo suggested, look on the back end of your laptop for a small round jack for a regular keyboard. It will look just like a mouse port (in fact, mine uses the same for both) but usually has a keyboard symbol above it embossed in the plastic.

Best of luck -
