Which mp3 player should i get?
i am looking to buy an mp3 player and have narrowed it down to these:
Creative Zen Micro - http://reviews.cnet.com/Creative_Zen...-31151919.html Dell Pocket DJ - http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1757616,00.asp or of course an IPOD NANO. I don't really need much of the frills and i'm really just looking for the basic task of playing mp3s. the only things i really care about are battery life and if i can play it in my car. thanks for any suggestions. |

I like the Creative Zen Micro. Very fast transfers and very stylish. I've got the remote also. As for the Dell, I was thinking about it, but I saw it at a local mall and it felt a little flimsy, especially the buttons. But that's just me.

The Nano seems a bit delicate for my liking, the other two should stand up to a little more abuse. How do you intend to play them in your car? RCA hookup? mini jack input? FM transmitter? you need to determine this first and see if the accessories you need are available for the unit you choose before you buy one. I have tried a lot of ways to hook my ipod to my car, itrip Fm, DLO transpod, tape adaptor etc.. none of them were acceptable, so I had a new stereo system installed, a kenwood with the ipod brain and the sound is perfect. I wouldn't recommend the ipod brain though, control is way too slow, I'm going to rid mine and use the RCA input instead and just use the ipod for control. And depending on your car it could get expensive. My BMW had the factory HK system and had to be bypassed entirely, so new Amps, Headunit were needed, subs and speakers were just by choice.

My boss's Dell DJ broke within 2 months. I didn't care for the button scroller on it at all. It was too stiff and made my finger hurt after a while. My sister got a Zen for Christmas and it looks nice. The iPod nano will probably give you the best battery life.

I got a ZenMicro Photo for Christmas and I love it. It is a really nice little player. It has a color OLED screen and holds 8 GB of music. Not to mention the external battery which is a necessity in my opinion. The Ipod Nano is appearently a very fragile unit. For the same price (less for the other ZenMicro models), the Zen is definetly the better value.
