I am thinking of buying a gateway computer for 849 after rebates. it has the
following dvd burner, 15.4 wxga lcd, amd athlon 64 proc 3400+ 2.2ghz, 512 mb, pc2700 ddr sdram, 80 gb 4200 rpm hard drive,dvd+/-rw double layer drive, 4 usb 2.0, 1 firewire port, 6-1 memory card read. i currently have an hp L2000 but still have time to return it. does anyone know how reliable gateway is. i would appreciate any info thanks |

Gateway should be fine. Did you like Gateway more than the L2000? If you do, I don't see why you shouldn't get it.

ive got the pentium version on that laptop, the 7330gz. its so awesome. i spoke with a guy at a computer store who told me while the computer is awesome the plug for the power source was kinda finnicky and caused problems that required replacement from warranty. other than that he said to procede, which i agree. i would note from his experience and my sense, laptops not lening themselves well towards modification should be purchased with a warranty! otherwise the hardrive space is awesome, ram is good (but i added another 512) screen is excellent, big fix software is pretty awesome too.....have at least one blank dvd on hand when you power up for first time! the big fix software created a restore disc from initial settings instead of including os and driver discs.

I never really liked Gateway but it should be fine.
Can't be worse then Dell... |
