New Notebook HDD...

Ok... so I realize this is PCmech but I have recently obtained GASP a powerbook G3... (dont worry *nix is being dropped on it) but I'm looking to upgrade from the 6gig drive...

So I was wondering peoples opinions on these two drives I'v been looking at:

We have a Seagate with an 8mb cache and a 5 year warranty.

Or a Toshiba with a 16mb cache and a 3 year warranty.

Are seagates notebook drives comprable to their desktops? Is toshiba a decent quality drive? differences in power consumption? shock protection?

Any info would be much appreciated.

ok so it seems the drive controller on the G3 doesnt actually play nice with ATA-6 drives.... ah well... no laptop for me... still curious as to how much of a difference everyone feels the 16mb cache would make and opinions on toshiba's customer service/reliability and such.

I don't see much of a difference with the Toshiba's drives. We used to carry them, but no longer, the support on it was bad also. I thought a 16mb would make a difference, but a simple Hitachi had the same, if not better performance.
