General Laptop...

I have a costumer who is wanting to purchase a laptop. I have a few ideas, but I always enjoy more.

Here is what they mostly will use it for.
Full office suite:
Word, Power Point, ect. Wants to effectivley be able to use.

Tax software:
Wife is a Accountant and has tax software that can be system intensive. Big files as you can imagine.

Those are the main purposes. What kind of RAM should they get? What kind of Video? What Company would be good? Dell, HP, Compaq, Sony?

Let me know your thoughts. Laptops aren't my forte'.

Well whether it's a desktop or laptop, it should be the same thing. It doesn't take much to run those programs. I would focus on RAM, and the rest of the hardware doesn't make much of a difference. If they're working on Accounting programs like Quickbooks or Peachtree, it really doesnt matter. If they're working on spreadsheets like Excel, then I would definitely get one with a widescreen so one can put dual worksheets side by side. For the programs like Quickbooks, you'll need a fast processor and a good amount of RAM. Basically, you can get anything currently on the market. As for RAM, if it's below 512mb, you can always increase it later.
