Try a system restore first.

When I first bought my Compaq a good portion of the keys just did not work. I ended up having to return it for another one. Try a system restore like pam said and then post back.

Question, do you have a language "bar" in the taskbar. I remember once having one and when i clicked X i got Z, and Z got me Y. All wrong. Go to Control Panel click "Regional and Language Options", click tab LANGUAGES click button DETAILS make sure its ENGISH (US). Else, you have a viruse.

99.9999% - hardware
.0001 % - virus What brand of computer? If it is a brand like Compaq or Dell, go to their website and download and run the diagnostics on it. One of them is usually for the keyboard. Have you spilt anything on the keyboard?

You probably will have to replace the keyboard.
You can rule out anything else by plugging an external keyboard in. If it works fine, your keyboard is shot. |

Which warranty did you get with it? If you upgraded to at least a one-year warranty, just call up Dell and get them to replace your keyboard. A 90-day warranty (which came standard on the 1200) may already have expired, but luckily Dell Spare Parts sells keyboards really cheaply if you are comfortable with opening it up and replacing the keyboard yourself.
