sony vaio pcg-8m4m
hey ho
probably a stupid question! but really need some help! i spilt some erm, well alcohol on my laptop and now it's broken. took it to get fixed and they said it needs a new motherboard costing £400-£700 and said it wouldn't be economically viable to do the repair so, looking on ebay.co.uk and there's a similar laptop to mine for real cheap with motherbaord still in but it's a pcg-8p1m would a motherbaord from that be compatible with my laptop??? would it be possible to repair it? i have honestly no idea and really need help!!!! thanks jools |

I'd start looking for another laptop if I were you. It's just not worth it to replace the motherboard on a laptop. Look at Dells; I'm not sure if this is true in the UK, but in the US they have a "CompleteCare" warranty that includes accidental damage protection. That would mean if you did something like this again, Dell would replace any parts needed for free.
