How does this look?

Lenovo ThinkPad T60 2007-63U -- $2573

It only comes with 1 GB of RAM, so you'd have to get another SO-DIMM (I believe all ThinkPads leave one SO-DIMM slot open, so getting a 1 GB SODIMM would bump you up to 2 GB). It may or may not have a 9-cell battery; the 6-cell is rated for 5-hour battery life and the 9-cell is rated for 9-hour battery life, so the 9-cell would be a worthwhile upgrade if you get it and it only has the 6-cell.

Note that it says "delayed shipping"; the T60 just came out, so not all the models are in stock at every retailer yet.

It wouldn't be any *better* - it would be the same thing, but customized to your requirements and desires.

What country are you in - is that $3600 USD?

What will this laptop be used for? Gaming? Work?

The T60, which was pointed out earlier, is a powerhouse, but wouldn't meet the needs of a hardcore gamer.

Custom builds take forever for Lenovo to do, expecially at the launch of a new model. The Z60 came out in October or November, and there are people who still don't have their custom configurations of those yet. If there's a pre-configured model that basically meets your needs, that's the best route to go. I upgraded my T43p from 512 MB to 1 GB because that was the only component that I wasn't satisfied with.

I have yet to see a laptop compair to a good gaming desktop for modern games. I am a hard core gamer myself and see a lot of the high end laptops come through our shop but none that will "Game" yet.

cajunwolf -- have you seen any of the 17" gaming laptops (either the Clevos or the Dell Inspiron 9300/XPS)? Those work extremely well for gaming -- I had an XPS Gen 2 and it was a powerhouse.

Yea was just checking those out esp the Dell ...looks sweet. They are getting there. Its like you mentioned in another post it might do for a year or so but games are really getting demanding on hardware. Battlefield 2 really pulls on my desktop machine. I do a lot of modding so a lot of the times I might have 3Dsmax or Photoshop running while in game or editors and this takes its toll.
