laptop power flickers when plugged in

I just bought a refurbished Gateway 8510GZ, and I've noticed that when the power cord is plugged in the power seems to flicker about every 10 to 15 seconds. The screen will go black for a split second and the LED which indicates the laptop is plugged in flickers off at the same time. Do I have a bad cable?

The power connector may be coming loose from the motherboard. That's actually a fairly common problem with older laptops.

OK, well it sort of stopped doing it right after I e-mailed Gateway. They want me to send the whole thing in to be serviced but I don't really want to since it's not that big of a deal now and it's pretty much stopped doing it. This model laptop has a huge back panel that comes off so I may even be able to fix the power connection myself if it worsens again. Thanks

If it's in warranty right now, send it in ASAP and have Gateway do it.
