Tablet pc advise, student, gateway m280?

I'm getting a tablet for college very soon (order tonight of possible). It's going to be used for note taking in/out of class, and as my primary computer internet/games. I've read everything I could find about tablets, and I'm still unclear on a few things. I was thinking about getting a Gateway M280 new. The reason I'm leaning towards this model is because it has the longest battery life on a brand I've heard of before, has good reviews, and has a decent graphics card. I haven't found anything bad about this tablet besides weight (doesn't bother me really), and the fact that it uses finepoint, not wacom. Is there a difference in use/performance between the two. I know they operate different and wacom is slightly more touch sensetive and finepoint is better when it comes to writing along the edges, but that's it.

Please enlighten me on the difference in is use/performance of wacom/finepoint, and anything I should know about buying a gateway (m280 specifically).
