Upgrade for Laptop

Hi, I'm planning on buying a new motherboard for my laptop in order to get a new gfx card. I have a ATI Mobility 9000 IGP 128mb and my new motherboard will have a ATI Mobility 9600 128mb.

1. Will this be a big improvement on frame rates and better all performance.
2. Do i have any other choices other than getting a whole new Motherboard?
3. Can I only use Compaq motherboards with my Compaq laptop, becuase the 9600 is the highest card they offer .

Thank You

Is there an upgrade mother board for that particular laptop? If there is the cost of the mother board and video card could equal an all new laptop.

You can only use Compaq motherboards that will fit in your particular model -- which probably limits you to one or two boards. Which model do you have and which board are you getting?
