IBM...err...Lenovo shock drive protection
I just got issued a new Thinkpad (T43 in case you were wondering...the one with the bionic finger...haven't figured it out yet) which is equipped with shock protection. I was wondering, has anybody, well, tested it, under fire so to speak?

If by tested, you mean dropped, then no. But there's a way to get a live view of what the accelerometer is doing if you right-click on the hard drive protection icon in the system tray. It will tell you graphically when movement is detected, what kind of movement, and whether it shuts off the hard drive. You'd be surprisxed how often the hard drive turns off.

Now that I'm at home, I checked it out. You can actually double-click on the icon, and then go to Real-time Status.
