I have an older Compaq LTE 5380 laptop running windows 98SE. I had a modem card in it and it recognised it. I am now trying to feed it a new wireless card, and a new Netgear Ethernet card. The system doesn't even notice that the cards are installed (not trying to use both cards at the same time). No beep, no lights, or anything. The PCMCIA program in Control panel shows slots as empty. If I stick the modem card in, it beeps and shows the card. I have installed drivers for the cards and everything. What am I missing here? Thanks!

Maybe that's an old 16 bit PCMCIA slot and you are trying to use 32 bit Cardbus cards? They will fit but they won't work.

Also make sure the new PC card will actually work with Win98.
