Swapping out my laptop floppy with what?

Hi there, my first post, been reading for awhile now though.

I have an old laptop Dell Latitude C810 with Xp pro. Its purpose is as an at school machine and wifi/email/internet box----i have a desktop that i use 90% of the time.

My laptop has a cd-rw drive on the left side and a floppy drive on the front left and battery front right. Because floppy's are pointless, i was thinking of putting something else in its place. The PCWorld review of this computer here: http://pcworld.about.com/news/Feb132002id83367.htm

says that i could put a second battery, a 20GB (max) hardrive or another optical drive in its place.

Any suggestions about which I should choose?

Another battery is appealing. As is a second hardrive----but I think 20gb is kind of small and pointless-----if I could put like 60 gb-80gb in there the hardrive option would be worth it to me. Why cant I?

thanks for your help

I know that you can replace the hard drive with a larger one depending on the bios support, but as far as replacing the floppy with a hard drive, I would question that one and do a bit more research on it.

You can run an 80 GB drive in the modular bay:

It's probably cheaper to buy a modular bay hard drive enclosure off eBay and add an 80 GB drive to it, though.

i think im going to upgrade the hardrive in my laptop (it only has 20gb now) to like 80gb, then put a spare battery in the modular bay. It seems like the best of both worlds----5-8 hours of run time and enough space to hold my itunes library.
