Laptop woes
I have an HP Pavilion xf328 laptop that is now about 3 years old. During its first year of life, it began to occasionally shut down unexpectedly. Over time, it became more frequent, and it always felt like it was running warmer than other units. I purchased a cooler - fanbox that it sits on to increase airflow, and it seemed to work better - but still shut down from time to time.
By the time I really got tired of this behavior, it was about one year and seven days old - just out of warranty. So, live with it. Since then, it had gradually worsened, but fortunately, I don't need to use it much. A couple months ago I had to replace the battery, and it seems to run cooler now - still dies, but not as often. It does seem to have more problems when doing more processor-intensive tasks (publisher, sometimes with word processing, definitely with games). However, I can use it for hours surfing without problems most of the time. Any ideas here? It's running an Athlon 1500, 30g drive. Thanks for any input. TA |

can you check to see what the tempatures is running at in the bios.
it is possible that the air flow path may be restricted with some dust or lint, that does build up over time. |
