Ipod VIdeo

Can you put DVDs that you own on the Ipod Video or just ones you download form Itunes? ALso-I have all my music in wma right now, but am thinking about getting an Ipod, will Itunes convert all my music to mp3 without losing much quality?

in answer to your first question, yes, you can put your own videos on as long as you have your own program to convert it into ipod format (apple wants you to use quicktime pro at a cost of $30, but there are plenty of other free/not-as-expensive alternatives).

in regards to your music, as long as the songs you have in wma do not have any type of protection (DRM) on them right now, itunes will convert them, but it may take a while depending on the amount you have.

I have about 6 gigs, so this would take a while? And I wouldn't lose any quality?

i can't really give you an estimate on time because a) i don't know how long it takes per song and b) it is dependent on your specs of your computer. i would assume, however, that you should expect at least a couple of hours, but since i haven't done it in such a large quantity, i could be way high or way low.

itunes should keep it at the same bitrate as what you have now, so you should not lose any quality

I heard AAC is a better format than Mp3, so you might want to convert using that.
