thanks for any help!!!

i ahve a problem with my HP laptop.you depress the on/off button and the angel boots up ok.

you go :start-shutdown----it goes "shuting down" then"saving last setting".
Then-"shutinng down."

woke up nex morning still the same.
had to hold down pwr button to get it to shutdown.
format hard drive and insatall windows XP.

during the installation whenthe laptop had to shutdown and restart ---i have to hold down the pwr buton.

i have xp profesional installed but the problem is the same.

Are you saying that you formatted the harddrive, reinstalled XP and you still have the problem?

yep
