Toshiba Gigabeat

Anyone have one of these? They're new I beleive. Cnet gave it a reeeeally high score. http://reviews.cnet.com/Toshiba_Giga...=true#mgallery
If you are not familiar with cnet reviews, they hardly ever give any 8+'s. They review with 5 being actually average where a 5 usually means terrible on most review scales. So an 8.1 is really good. In comparison, the Ipod Video got an 8. This is .3 better than the ipod, which is a first i beleive. Anyone think toshiba can steal any of apples marketshare? Im definatly picking up a gigabeat this summer at some point.

The GigaBeat sounds good, but I don't think it will take much of Apple's market share, because Apple's iPod has become synonymous with "portable media player." Many non-techies will stick with iPods because they're the thing to have, and many techies (like me) will stick with iPods because of the interface (I love iTunes) and the accessories (like my Alpine iPod headunit in my car).

Have you tried windows media player 11? I used to use itunes even though my mp3 player was wmp controlled. For listening I used itunes, and for putting stuff on my iRiver I had to use wmp10, but I love wmp11 its a vast improvement. Give it a try, it may change your opinion.

My problem with the ipod is the scratch proneness. I don't want to have to use a case to keep it looking good. Maybe im just crazy. And im not a huge fan of the click wheel, even though most rave about it.
