Video camera transfer

I have a sony handycam with the usb transfer slot and the other day I was tranfering some video over to the computer for the first time and the resolutions was horrible. Is there a better program to use other than the supplied pixela image studio.
If anyonw has found a better program please tell me
Thanks

Just curious, but does the camera also have a Firewire (iLink) port? What model camera is it?

With most software the resolution is usually determined by the settings for the capture and what you are going to use it for. If you set it to capture for publishing on the internet or to a cd the resolution wil be much lower than if you are going to put it on a dvd.

The camera is a sony handycam vision, model number ccd-trv608. It has usb streaming nut no i link port.
I would like to get the best resolution possible. Space is not a problem and I can always shrink it if I have to.

That's an analog camcorder -- you're just not going to get as clear a picture as you would with a digital one.
