laptop ideas
Ok so i will be attentding college soon, and am looking at a notebook, instead of building a new comp. I want a laptop that will be able to play world of warcraft and then be able to do all the other college things. Id like at least 1gb of ram and a nice laptop video card. I want to keep it under 1500 bucks. I would also like for it to have an vga port so i can attack it to my monitor.
THANKS, drew |

thanks alot glc, i was thinking of going with an acer, and that second one seems like a good choice. I got a question about the video card/system performance. I mean of course im not planing on playing something like fear on it, but what will it handle? I plan on playing mainly wow, which im sure it can handle, but what aobut something like bf42, or bf2?
Thanks a lot |

BF2 is a major game. It's up there with other rescource hogs, and not exactly a laptop game. I was in the same boat a few years ago, and the best solution I came up with was to keep my gaming confined to a desktop, and then most any current laptop will do the trick. I have a bit of a power house in my HP L2000, but that's mostly because I'm a psychology student and run a lot of major Excel and Access flles when working on studies. It also happens to run Guild Wars pretty well from time to time if you don't need all the eye candy to kill an hour or so.

That X1400 should be okay as long as you keep the effects turned down. To get desktop gaming performance with a laptop you are gonna be spending a lot more than 1500 bucks - you would need one with something like a GeForce Go 7900 with 256+ megs dedicated ram. This kind of laptop is going to cost you well over 2 grand.

You can theoretically get an Inspiron E1705 with a 7900 for $1500 after coupons...

My laptop runs Medal of Honor at max settings 1024x768 perfectly fine. The specs are in my sig, it cost me around $1600 after a $750 coupon. That was in December, the prices may have came down a bit.
I also bought a 3 yr extended warranty plan, so you could shave off around $200 if you stay with the one year limited warranty.

Yeah - a Go 6800 is stronger than a X1400.

Okay, I just configured a Dell Inspiron E1705 with a Core Duo 1.83 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a GeForce Go 7900 GS, a 100 GB HDD, DVD burner, Intel wireless, and a 3-year CompleteCare warranty for $1595 after a $750 off coupon. That seems to me like a better option than an Acer with an X1400.
