I have Toshiba Satellite 2410 laptop. A friend of mine gave me an Intel mini pci wifi card that requires the laptop to be already antenna wired and ready. I openned the panel directly below where the Ram Dimm slots and found the mini pci slot for such card with the two antenna wires taped down ready for connecting to the card. The card fits in the slot no probs and the black wire(main) snaps on easy, but one glich...the white wire(aux.) is too short and won't reach the aux. snap on connector. Nobody seems to know what I'm talking about at computer stores or they don't carry the cards. I want to know if the white wire really needs to be connected or is it just aux.? Does anyone know about the internal antenna wires?

Yes thank you. This will probably come in handy many times. Although I didn't see anything related to the antenna wires.

Can you list here the exact model, make and any numbers/letters you see on the card.

The Intel PRO/Wireless Mini-PCI cards are only compatible with Pentium-M-based laptops.

Yeah, you might be able to get that working, but don't count on it. I've heard of a lot of problems with PRO/Wireless cards (that's the 2100) being used in non-Pentium-M laptops.

I found the drivers for the card from Intel. As it turns out, I found them first a couple of days ago, but they are buried in the root of the file. The card is installed and working properly. From home in the basement it doesn't find any networks in range. It comes up with a note saying "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on" Any ideas? I didn't install the Intel ProSet software I'm only using XP, also back to my original problem I am only able to connect the main antenna wire and not the Aux.(white).

That's probably why - the 2100 may have installed, but unless your system is Centrino, it may not work. I would not be surprised if they did the antenna connectors that way for that very reason.

I'd like to know too -- this could be good news for people who want to use Intle cards in non-Centrino laptops. And if you have any instability, please report back.
