Best Laptop for me?
I'm off to college this year, and I'll be traveling across country so a desktop is out of the question, at least for now.
I need a top of the line laptop that can handle graphic editing and maybe video editing, games, and of course everything else a college kid needs. I know very little about what makes a good laptop, and where the best places to get them are. So, in conclusion, I could use a lot of suggestions. Thanks |

Right...up to 2200, but preferably under 2K.

I'd have to second that Acer. It is a 5400 rpm drive, but I would deal with that for the price vs. power your getting with the video card. That's a pretty good deal.

How big of a difference does the 5400 RPM speed make?
Also, it wouldn't be hard to reformat the FAT32 to NTFS and reinstall Windows, right? |

You do not have to reformat - there are 3 partitions. Leave the recovery partition alone, use Partition Magic to merge the system and data partitions if you want, then use the Windows convert tool to convert it (or them) to NTFS.
Do not sweat hard drive speeds in notebooks. |

I've decided I may actually want to go to the desktop route, seeing as I'd love another shot at building after how well my first one went. However, I still wouldn't mind having a decent laptop for long plane rides and taking notes.
Are there any sub-$600 laptops that can play DVDs with ease and do other basic stuff (word processing, internet)? |
