Compaq Pressario Power
Can this laptop operate without the battery being inserted? How can the battery be bypassed and just operate with the corded power adaptor? Thanks for any help

Did you loose the battery, or are you just trying to avoid killing a lithium ion battery? If the Lithium ion battery is fully charged and the laptop is pluged in then it won't cycle the battery. I have a iBook that is plugged in most of the time and the battery is still as fresh as the day a bought the laptop. Minus a few cycles. The battery is completing a circuit so I don't think you can by pass it without shorting, or causing an open somewhere.

My Toshiba runs fine without the battery but as Jester says to have to be aware of cycles with a lithium ion battery.
What model of pressario is it?

Ot is an 1200 XL 118 model. The original battery went dead. I bought through the internet another that did not work. I just wasnt to use it without the battery if possible. I do not need it to be portable.
Thanks |

You may have a bad power adapter inside the laptop. Does the power light even come on with the battery in or out?
