Need notebook suggestions...

Hey all...

I've finally decided to get a notebook pc. I'm having trouble deciding which notebook would be the best value. My price range is around $1000 give or take. I've already a desktop pc that can take care of the more demanding things such as gaming, video/picture editing etc etc.

It would be nice for the notebook to have around 1gb of ram and preferrably the video memory not shared. I mostly plan to write up reports, do research, and multitask(maybe some light HL 1 games if I get bored on campus :P). After the raw power and value, durability, battery life, weight, and warranty would be the most important things to me.

I found this notebook:

For the hardware you get, the price doesnt seem too bad. I see there is only a 1 year warranty... so could anyone give a testimonial to Acer's reliability? I've been browsing around for a while, and it seems to me that it is hard to find a notebook with 1gb memory, a duo cpu, and non shared video memory for around $1000.

Any suggestions for around that price range? Again, it doesn't have to be cutting edge, but I'd like it to still be more than able to multitask say... a broswer, VOIP program, msword, and a media player all at once.

thanks a lot!

In that price range with that criteria, nothing beats that Acer. The only other thing I would consider is try to configure a Dell and find some coupons.
