Need 2 purchase a new AC adapter - What's good, what's not?
Hello,
When replacing a AC power adapter for a notebook what should I look for? Other than the standard 18V-19V output, what about the wattage rating? The old one was a 60 watt, will a 90 watt cause any harm? Any particular brands better than others? The manufacture quoted me $75-$100 dollars. Thanks! |

No, 90 watt will not cause any harm, that is just a rating of how much power the adapter is capable of putting out, not how much it will put out all the time. It will put out however much power the device draws from it, thus the danger is buying a power adapter rated too low for your particular devices needs.

I use a universal adapter that has switchable voltage and interchangeable tips (both size and polarity). Just don't get one with LESS watts than the original.
