Well, I just purchased a new lap-top and am very excited to see its capabilities when doing high-end graphics and AutoCAD. Anyway, I got the Intel Centrino Duo Processor within the chasis. What exactly does this mean? Are there two different processors or does it break one down into two? One last question.....what is the big differences between Standby and Hibernate? When is it better to use each one? Keep in mind I am a student in college who is on the go between classes , and does not want to shutdown every time I move. Thanks for your help?

No, it's a dual core processor - similar to a Pentium-D or an Athlon X2.
Standby saves everything to ram and powers everything down to minimum. It still requires some battery juice to maintain standby. Hibernate saves the contents of ram to a hibernation file on the hard drive and totally shuts down. If you will be starting it back up within 15 minutes or so, standby is fine, otherwise hibernate it. |
