Rate this laptop for me
Hello, I'm buying a laptop for college. I have a desktop at home thats my powerhouse so I do not really need much from my laptop but to just go to class, do my work, occasional internet surfing, and no gaming.
I came up on this one: http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...AWLMi_Notebook What do you guys think about it? My budget is around 500-800 max, I really do not want to spend more than that. Thanks in advance. |

It's a good deal. I bought one at CompUSA a year ago for $700 after a $200 rebate and I thought it was a good deal then. My 12 year old daughter uses/abuses it quite a bit and I've had no problems with it.
All this depends on what you want to do. It's not for gaming with the intel integrated graphics. Also, the sound is a little on the weak side if you like to listen to music on your laptop with headphones. But for general office apps, web surfing and email, it's more than adequate. One caveat, if you buy in store, they will lean on you very hard to buy their overpriced service plan. If you're computer litrerate at all, don't bother with it no matter what type of scare tactics they try on you. Acer warrants their hardware for one year and that should be adequate. If you feel you need more hand holding, go with a cheap dell and an appropriate service plan for your needs. Finally, expect to wait for about 4 to 5 months for that $200 rebate. If you want an extended warranty, you can buy one direct from Acer.
