IPOD VIDEO's BAT LIFE...?
Im interested on buying a new ipod and though the ipod video was a good choice but what im affraid of is about the battery's life...since it isn't replaceable like a cell phone bat.. so i guessed it was better to be sure instead of doing the wrong thing anyways whats the AVG BAT LIFE?... ALSO is it worth $250 for the 30gig model, or should i look for something beter?

I have a relatively new iPod. 30GB. White. Bought it in July.
The battery life is pretty good, I certainly can't give any real accurate hour's, but I go for a few days at least without charging it up. I listen to it while doing homework and when relaxing. I love it, but I also have a car adapter thing so that I can bring my music with me in the car as well, so that's one of the things that I like so much about it. For general purposes, if you don't need the size, you could get a smaller solid-state storage device since they can have some remarkable battery life as well and can be cheaper. This is quite durable though(dropped it at least 4 times on the treadmill already) and it keeps going, so I have only good things to say about it. I'd highly recommend it unless you found something that suited your specific purposes better(such as always running with it, maybe somethign smaller would be good, etc). |

From Apple's website:
Playback time (30GB model) Music playback time: Up to 14 hours when fully charged Photo slideshow with music viewing time: Up to 4 hours when fully charged Video playback time: Up to 3.5 hours when fully charged These reflect the updated model that Apple released last week. i have the 60gb, and the music playback time is fine if its fully charged (~10 hours). the thing that i hate is the video battery time at about 2.5 hours. when i am on a four hour flight, i have time to watch a movie, but then by the time its over, i have barely enough battery life to last me the rest of the flight in music.
i guess you have to balance what you want it for. if its for music, you will be fine. movies, just depends on how long you can go without a charge craig

I thought the original poster wanted to know how long the battery would last, i.e. how long it will go before it no longer accepts a charge. Ipods use lithium ion batteries which are generally good for 300 to 500 charge/recharge cycles very similar to a laptop battery.
While the battery is supposedly not user replaceable, there are many kits available that allow the user to replace the ipod battery and there are many third party services available that will do it for you for a reasonable fee. |
