Sony Laptops

We are getting a laptop computer at church to use with projection software. The person who is helping us get set up for it recommended this as being one that would work. I did notice that Office is only a trial, but the projection software we would probably be using is Media Shout, so I am not sure if we would have to have Power Point on this one or not.

I was curious if anyone has anything positive or negative to say about this particular one, or Sony in general. Thanks.

Moved to Portable forum.

The specs on that laptop are plenty suited for Office. I would take a look at laptops from Dell. Sony's are fine machines, but you can get a similar system for much less money. The E1505 series is popular and can be found for under $1000.

Most laptops are preloaded with a lot of crap, but Sonys are about the worst in those respects. I concur with the Dell recommendation.

Thanks guys. I got a dell desktop at church, but the person in charge of the committee is exremely Anti Dell. The fact they recalled the batteries gives her something more to work with. Would a Gateway be close too, or is Dell the best? Thanks.

I'd skip over Gateway. Dell is the best for performance per dollar ratio. You could take a look at Toshiba and IBM/Lenovo, but those are not cheap. HP's are decent. You could also take a look at Acers on Newegg.
