Samsung A930 and musical ringtone woes

I just got the samsung A930 last Monday and have been really enjoying it...until now.

I refused to buy the $30 "music essentials" kit at Verizon, and went and got a 1 gig mini-sd flash card for the same price at Best Buy instead.

Things to know:

1) The phone formats the card and adds three folders - "my music", "my sounds" and another useless one.

2) You have to convert your mp3's into WMA for the phone to recognize them.

Alright, my problem:

The music is now on my phone and sounding great. The problem though is for some reason there's a difference between ringtones and music. When you click on a contact and click add Ringer ID you get to choose from either the "My ringtones" folder or the "my sounds" one. Thinking I could just dump my music into the my sounds folder on the flash card and have them pop up in the menu, I was disappointed. Nada.

All I can figure out is that you have to buy ringtones from Verizon in order for them to show up as ringtone options to choose from. Simply adding your own music won't work. A "My Ringtones" option is never present when fooling around with your music.

Does anyone know a way around this, or is there something I'm not trying?

Thanks to everyone in advance,

Tom ( a very disappointed Verizon customer)
